Connecticut's required harassment training, ready to assign

Connecticut employers with three or more employees must give every Connecticut employee two hours of sexual harassment prevention training within six months of hire. The Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities publishes an official online training. Ethica assigns it, follows up until it's done, and keeps each certificate.

The official Connecticut course, ready to assign

Launch a course in Ethica and each employee gets an email with a link to the official course. When they finish, they upload the certificate it gives them, and it's kept on their record. Ethica sends the reminders and schedules the next round.

Frequently asked questions

Which Connecticut employers must provide the training?
Employers with three or more employees, counted at any location, must train their Connecticut employees. Employers with fewer than three must train supervisors (Conn. Gen. Stat. §46a-54(15)).
Does the training have to be repeated?
The law requires supplemental training that updates employees on the content at least every ten years. Ethica repeats the course every two years by default, so nobody goes most of a decade without a refresher, and you can change that.
Does the training have to be interactive?
Yes. The CHRO explains that employees must be able to ask questions and get answers within a reasonable time. It says its online training satisfies the statute, and in Ethica each employee's training page names the person they can ask.
How does the employee get a certificate?
The CHRO emails it after the training is finished. The course says certificates are generally issued every other business day, so the employee uploads it to Ethica once it arrives.
Does the CHRO's training satisfy the law on its own?
Yes. The CHRO says watching its training fully satisfies the statute.
